Specials Courses

In elementary, courses that are not core (math, reading, social studies, etc.) we refer to as specials. These include Spanish, Phy Ed, Art, Music, Computer.

Secondary

PACT offers a variety of options available to our students during the day and as extracurricular.  See the Secondary student menu for details and Extracurricular Activities.

Here is a list of the most requested policies by new secondary families:

Student Transportation

Bussing: Routes & Requests

American Transportation is our transportation provider. Routes have pick-up/drop-off locations around the covered area. We try our best to accommodate requests and we realize that some stops may not be convenient. The times indicated are the approximant times. There often are delays the first week of school for both morning & evening routes. Please be 5-7 minutes early the first week. To request a new bus stop after August 15th, contact the Transportation Coordinator. (See Bus Route Information -- to see current routes, you must login).

Please note there is no mid-day transportation for Kindergarten students.

Carpooling: Drop-off & Pick-up

Access to the carpool lane is off of Sunwood Drive and Peridot Street. The flow is one-way, at the west entrance (Door #3), by the flagpole. Our school safety patrols will direct traffic in the lanes from 7:45 - 8:00 a.m. and 3:05 - 3:15 p.m. When bringing your student to school please DO NOT drop them off in front of the school main office (Door #1) or by the playground (Door #2). We keep the carpool lane and the bus-loading zone separate from each other for everyone's safety. Vehicles must yield to busses on school property.

Kindergarten Mid-day Arrival & Dismissal Procedures

AM Kindergarten Mid-day Dismissal, students should be picked up in the bus lane on the east side of the building (by the playground) at 11:15 am.

PM Kindergarten Mid-day Arrival, students should be dropped off in the bus lane on the east side of the building (by the playground). This should be done between 11:30 and 11:45 a.m.

Students should not be dropped off in the front of the building (unless parents are parking in a parking space and coming in with them).

Communication

PACT Charter School has several modes of communication to help families keep up-to-date. Our main method is through Google Groups. All new families are added to the PACT-Communication Google Group. All other groups are voluntary. You may unsubscribe at any time.

Initial Welcome Email:

New families will receive an email "PACT Parent Access Credentials" from the Technology Department, 2-3 business days after enrollment confirmation. This email will provide families with their online user credentials to access JMC, Moodle/Website, and the eStore. It is important to provide a current email address that is checked often. New families that will be attending PACT the following school year after the lottery, will receive an email in the summer. If you don't see an email, please check your spam/junk mail.

Weekly Notes:

Emailed over the weekend, our Weekly Notes are announcements sent out about the upcoming week. It includes calendar dates, deadlines, and important reminders.

School Newsletters:

PACT has two newsletters that are posted on the website and emailed to the community via the PACT Communication Google Group:

  • The PACT Pilot is published on the first day of the month August through June. It includes news and updates about school happenings.
  • The PACT Pride is published on the 15th day of the month September through June. It highlights student and staff accomplishments from the previous month. This publication is available online only to those that are logged in.

Social Media:

PACT is on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. “Like” or “follow” us! Many groups at PACT also have their own Facebook page and you are encouraged to join your class page which are usually organized by high school graduation year. Many teams have group pages as well.

Teacher Briefs:

Elementary classroom teachers may communicate to parents with a class e-newsletter or weekly email that highlight classroom-specific information, including the week’s assignments. Secondary teachers use email to communicate information as needed.

Moodle:

Each teacher has a classroom webpage (a Moodle Page). These webpages are accessible by signing in with a parent login (provided by the school). It is important to provide an updated email address for electronic communications, otherwise, please contact the main office for options available to you.

Mailings:

An End of the School Year mailing is sent out in June, which includes final report cards and other important information. Then in August a Back-to-School mailing is sent out with important information for the new year. During the year other mailings include report cards and ballots for committee elections.

Committee Email:

We use Google Groups for our Committee Communication. You will need to sign-up for a group (see individual committee pages for google groups). Committee meeting agendas are posted online under the 'Governance' menu. See Google Groups FAQ for more information.

Calendars:

PACT uses the rSchool Today calendar for all of our events and sport activities. The calendar can be customized to create a specific calendars for your use (committee meetings, Character Awards, sports schedules, play rehearsals, etc.). See the calendars under the News & Events menu for details.

JMC Emergency Communication:

When necessary, PACT uses JMC Messaging to contact families by a recorded telephone message or text to alert you to school closings, transportation delays, or any other immediate information. Related information may be published on the home page of the website under PACT Charter Latest News. Families are able to select how they would like to receive these messages in their JMC Parent portal.

Website, Moodle & Online Parent JMC Access

Parents will be able to use their Moodle login information to log into the PACT website. Once logged in, parents may see more menu's to select from and access to certain webpages.

There are two separate online systems for parents to view pertinent student information. JMC Online Parent Access will have your student(s) name/classes, schedule, student registration information and where you can set reporting alerts and update your parent information. Moodle is where teacher web pages and assignments are located. Moodle and the main PACT website are single-user sign-on, which means once you login, you can navigate between the two websites seamlessly.

Your login information will remain the same for as long as your students are enrolled at PACT. Please note: Fifth through twelfth grade student(s) have their own login for both systems.

New families will be sent their login information via email, once their accounts are set up. It is important to provide the office a primary email address. Please check your junk mail for any communication from PACT and be sure to mark it 'not junk'! Are you required to have an email address? No. If you don't have an email address, you can stop by the Technology Office to obtain your login information. We will not send it home with students.

Meals

Premier Kitchen is our food service provider. Daily meal options are available for breakfast and lunch. Mid-day choices include a standard Lunch meal, Vegetarian meal, Sandwich meal and Salad options are available. Meals are pre-ordered for the following month. Forms and menus will not be sent home. Online payment is done through the eStore. See the School Meals webpage for "eStore Instructions" on setting up your account!

Families who qualify for free or reduced lunches, may be eligible for low-cost internet access and/or a computer through Internet Essentials. Please complete the Educational Benefits application (from the Business Office) to see if you qualify!

Orientation & Open House

New Student Orientation

After the lottery, each spring, we hold an Orientation for Kindgergarten families and new students that have accepted an open position. The Enrollment Coordinator will contact families of the date and time of the Orientation.

Open House

Typically, the last full week in August we have an Open House for Secondary (Tuesday) and Elementary (Thursday). At Open House students & families will meet their teacher(s), return school forms, bring in their school supplies, and get their locker assignments. Secondary students will also get their schedule and important information from their advisors. At Open House it is our school "Picture Day" ~ all students need to get their picture taken for an ID; it is not required to purchase a picture package.
