The Independent Study Choice (ISC) room serves the whole Secondary student body and is monitored throughout the entire school day by a room monitor. The room is used for a variety of reasons that include, but are not limited to:

  • Students working on an approved Individual Study course or an online course while not currently scheduled in a seat-based course during the same time.
  • Students making up tests or assignments due to absence.
  • Students participating in the PSEO program who are waiting for their PACT campus class to begin.
  • Students unable to join the regular classroom for a variety of disciplinary reasons (for example, an in-school suspension) or behavior concern as part of PACT’s discipline procedures. At the discretion of the ISC Room Monitor, the student is to report back to their class. The student may continue in the ISC Room for up to one additional class period the next day. If a student is in the ISC Room for longer than two hours, the parent will be notified as soon as possible. Students participating in extracurricular activities who are sent to ISC for disciplinary purposes may also receive consequences in their activity.
