Educational Philosophies
Envoy
EnVoy is a classroom management program adopted by PACT in 2017. It’s all about the tone of voice, position of the body, and the way to look at students that has the biggest impact on student behavior in the classroom. Teachers are trained to build awareness of these nonverbal patterns they use with students—and the results have been amazing. We are seeing better relationships, productivity and an increase in student independence. It makes for a very healthy classroom environment.
Love and Logic
The Love and Logic approach is a behavior management program that has been very effective in dealing with issues in the classroom. It neutralizes arguing, offers delayed consequences, shows empathy and develops positive teacher-student relationship. It’s a way to set limits that are enforceable that prevents power struggles and guides students to own and solve their own problems. It has been effective tool for PACT’s teachers that allows them to enjoy their students!
To support our Love and Logic discipline philosophy, our Secondary program utilizes a School Discipline Support Room. The room is used as a tool for teachers and students to work out behavior issues after school. This allows students to stay in classroom during the day so they do not miss out on instruction. The room is staffed by a teacher and runs after school from 3:15-4:15 p.m., as needed.
Writing Road to Reading
Writing Road to Reading curriculum teaches reading, writing and spelling alongside each other as part of a complete packet. By teaching them together it creates higher vocabulary, grammar, composition fluency, and reading comprehension. By teaching them together the student develops a higher appreciation for the written word.
