Secondary Moves to Distance Learning

October 27, 2020

The COVID-19 case count in Anoka County and the surrounding area has steadily increased, and the most recent data from the state on the 14-day case rate puts Anoka County at 33.16. Because of this, the PACT administration met with its regional support team on October 27 to collaborate and obtain advice on our learning model. It was determined that all Secondary students will be in the Distance Learning Plan starting on Tuesday, November 3. Elementary students will stay in the Hybrid Learning Plan.

What you need to know:

  • There will be no school for Secondary students on Monday, November 2. This will allow Secondary staff time to prepare.
  • Secondary students should bring all of their materials home on their last day in the building.
  • Extracurricular activities will continue while awaiting more direction from the state. While in the distance learning model, fans cannot attend competitions.
  • Families who ordered school meals for their Secondary students can pick them up each school day in the office between 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
  • Secondary attendance is taken through Google Meet. Secondary students in grades 9-12 must log in to their core and advisory class meetings; and students in grades 7-8 must log in to all advisory, core, and elective classes (with the exception of study hall and grade 7 Musical Theater). Secondary students need to be sure to log in to their meetings on time. Students must use their study hall times to complete work for elective classes, which is due each Friday at 11:59 p.m., and/or complete core classwork.
  • Core teachers will be available on Google Meet throughout each scheduled class period to assist students that may have questions.

We are disheartened by this decision but hope to see our students back in the building soon! We will continue to monitor the case rate data for Anoka County and return to the Hybrid Learning Model as soon as possible.
