Student (Carpool) Pick-Up/Drop-Off Procedure Guidelines

The student drop off/pick up procedures are designed to provide for student safety as well as a convenient way for parents to pick up and/or drop off their students at school.

During the (approximate) times of 7:45-8:00 a.m. and 3:00-3:15 p.m. the carpool lane will be supervised by PACT Charter School personnel. The School Safety Patrol will be staffed by PACT Charter School students that are trained under the MN State Patrol guidelines. It is important that all students and adults follow their directions at all times.

During these times students are NOT to be dropped off or picked up at the main entrance (by the office). Doing so causes a dangerous situation where buses are entering and car congestion cause increase potential for an accident or someone getting hurt. After 8:00 a.m. or 3:15 p.m. students may be dropped off or picked up at the main entrance. While on school property, vehicles must yield to buses.

All drop-off and pick-up must be done through the carpool lane. The right carpool lane is for students to load/ unload into/from the vehicle. The left lane is for driving around waiting cars and exiting the carpool lane area. No person(s) may enter or exit the vehicle from the driver’s side while in the carpool lane.

For morning drop off - Cars will pull forward as far as is allowed, drop off the student(s), and continue on to exit the carpool lane. Or, use the left lane to exit around waiting cars. When students are dropped off after 8:00 am, the parent/guardian should park their vehicle and check the student in at the school office.

Afternoon pick up - Cars are to pull ahead to the end of the right lane. The cars that are on the north side of the crosswalk zone will be allowed to load their students. They are to exit when finished. The cars that are on the south side of the crosswalk zone will wait until they are directed by the PACT Charter School staff and patrols to proceed ahead to load their students. Students will wait in the fenced area for their ride until their ride has stopped on the north side of the crosswalk and walk to their vehicle. Please pull around to the end of the carpool lane if you do not see your child(ren)/ student(s).

After class dismissal students need to be making their way to the designated areas to wait for their ride. After 3:15 students should go to the office to call their ride and wait there.

During the above posted times, the Safety Patrol will use the flags to stop the traffic flow and allow people to use the crosswalk zone. The school staff will supervise the Safety Patrol.

When picking up or dropping off students, we request that short-term or long-term parking is to be done in the west school parking lot in order to keep the traffic moving. Please park your vehicle in a parking spot. If you are dropping off or picking up a student inside the building, please check in at the school office as a guest (parents/guardians included).

Quick tips and reminders:

  • Please use the crosswalk that is being controlled by the Safety Patrol, at all times
  • Students should exit vehicle on the passenger side of the vehicle only.
  • Students may exit the vehicle in the morning anywhere along the sidewalk.
  • After school students must be picked up on the north side of the crosswalk.
  • With the cold weather, we all have a lot on our mind. Please be patient, attentive, and calm while you are dropping off your students.
  • Reminder to patrols, no outside duty when the temperature or wind chill is below zero.
  • We are here for everyone and we want to make sure everyone is safe during this drop-off and pick-up time.
