Health

School attendance and health go hand-in-hand. Being absent from school too often, excused or not, can put a child’s academic achievement—and future health—at risk. Together we can help our students achieve more and find success!
PACT’s Health Office is a busy place! We provide students with first aid, immunization monitoring, prescribed health procedures, monitoring of communicative diseases, assistance with individualized health plans for students with concerns, main health records, and crisis response. If your student has significant health needs, don't hesitate to contact the Health Office.

Student Health Information

PACT’s Health Office provides students with first aid, immunization monitoring, prescribed health procedures, monitoring of communicative diseases, assistance with individualized health plans for students with concerns, main health records, and crisis response. If your student has significant health needs, don't hesitate to contact us.

Medication

If your student needs to take medication during the school day, please complete an Authorization for Administration of Medication Form. Have your physician sign the form requiring a prescription (this includes inhalers and nebulizer solution). All medications must be in the original container (send a small bottle for more accessible storage at school).

Life-Saving Training and Equipment

  • All PACT employees are trained to administer an Epi-Pen and deal with blood-borne pathogens.
  • NARCAN® is a potentially lifesaving medication designed to help reverse the effects of an opioid overdose in minutes. PACT has a rescue kit available in the health office.
  • PACT is equipped with Automatic Electonic Defibibrulator (AED) devices that automatically define and treat cardiac events.

Inhaler and Nebulizer

If your student is 12 years of age or older and needs an inhaler for asthma, please complete the Authorization for Administration of Medication Form with the Self Administration of Medication portion completed so that they can carry their inhaler. In addition, we have a nebulizer in the Health Office, so if you would like to send a mask, tube, and neb solution, it will be available for your student if they need it.

Immunizations

Please complete a Student Immunization Form if your student is new to PACT or has new immunizations. Recommended vaccines are completed before kindergarten, grade 7, and grade 12.

We need a notarized immunization form if you choose to be a conscientious objector.

Nut Aware Classrooms

Due to severe allergies to tree nuts, peanuts, peanut butter, and/or products that contain nuts, we need your help in supporting the following guidelines to make our classroom peanut/nut aware and to prevent potential allergic reactions:

  • Please do not send any snacks with your student which contain nuts, peanuts, peanut butter, or other nut products.
  • If your child packs a lunch containing tree nuts, peanuts, peanut butter, or other nut products, it must stay in a sealed container while being kept in the classroom.
  • Students will be permitted to bring nut products as part of their lunch, as students with allergies sit at a separate table where there is adult supervision of food products.
  • Nut-aware tables will be clearly labeled in lunch rooms for students with allergies.

Thank you for your support as we continue to create a safe environment for all students. If you have any questions, please contact the School Nurse.

COVID-19 Response Plan

PACT is committed to providing students and employees with a safe community to learn and grow. Expectations for collective safety and well-being efforts will be communicated, supported with policies and procedures, and reinforced with visual reminders. Visit our COVID-19 Response Plan for more information.

Counseling Center

Our school counselors and social workers work closely with students to remove barriers to academic achievement and support social and emotional development. Promoting and supporting mental health is essential to achieving personal and academic success.

eCare Health Assistance

PACT partners with Avel eCARE Health program to offer all-day access to an additional school nurse through two-way video/audio technology. They assist in treating injuries, illnesses, and chronic health conditions such as asthma or diabetes. Additionally, the staff from eCARE are available to help when our school nurse is out of the building. PACT provides this service to all students free of charge to keep students healthy and learning.

The Avel eCare nurse's number is 605-606-0550.
