Attendance and Health

School attendance and health go hand-in-hand. Being absent from school too often, excused or not, can put a child’s academic achievement—and future health—at risk. Together we can help our students achieve more and find success!

Attendance

Regular school attendance is essential for the academic success of students. We ask that families do their best to have their students in school daily to benefit all our students and teachers. Because PACT has fewer instructional days than most Minnesota schools, good attendance is even more essential for our students.

PACT allows a student six excused full-day absences per school year for Elementary students and three per semester for Secondary students.

Tardiness and Absences

Students are expected to attend school for the entire school day. Students arriving after 8 a.m. must report to the school office, and a note or phone call must be received from the parent/guardian stating the reason for the tardiness.

Students leaving for any part of the day or before 3:05 p.m. must report to the school office and have a parent/guardian sign them in or out.

Please notify us by 9 a.m. if your student will be absent.

  • Email: attendance@pactcharter.org
  • Phone: 763-712-4200, option 2

Please include the student's name, date of absence, the reason for absence, and the name of the person reporting the absence. Unreported absences are considered unexcused.

Vacations

Please plan family vacations around the school calendar to preserve in-class instruction time. If that is not possible, vacations require prior approval from the administration. Please email the Assistant Director of Education, Jenelle Moehn, and reference the vacation dates and how schoolwork will be completed. Your student must be caught up when they join their classmates upon return.

Read the Attendance Policy for more details.

PACT’s Health Office provides students with first aid, immunization monitoring, prescribed health procedures, monitoring of communicative diseases, assistance with individualized health plans for students with concerns, main health records, and crisis response. Medication

If your student needs to take medication during the school day, please complete an Authorization for Administration of Medication Form. Have your physician sign the form requiring a prescription (this includes inhalers and nebulizer solution). All medications must be in the original container (send a small bottle for more accessible storage at school).

Inhaler and Nebulizer

If your student is 12 years of age or older and needs an inhaler for asthma, please complete the Authorization for Administration of Medication Form with the Self Administration of Medication portion completed so that they can carry their inhaler. In addition, we have a nebulizer in the Health Office, so if you would like to send a mask, tube, and neb solution, it will be available for your student if they need it.

Immunizations

Please complete a Student Immunization Form if your student is new to PACT or has new immunizations. Recommended vaccines are completed before kindergarten, grade 7, and grade 12.

We need a notarized immunization form if you choose to be a conscientious objector.

COVID-19 Response Plan

PACT is committed to providing students and employees with a safe community to learn and grow. Expectations for collective safety and well-being efforts will be communicated, supported with policies and procedures, and reinforced with visual reminders. Visit our COVID-19 Response Plan for more information.

Counseling Center

Our school counselors and social workers work closely with students to remove barriers to academic achievement and support social and emotional development. Promoting and supporting mental health is essential to achieving personal and academic success.

eCare Health Assistance

PACT partners with Avel eCARE Health program to offer all-day access to an additional school nurse through two-way video/audio technology. They assist in treating injuries, illnesses, and chronic health conditions such as asthma or diabetes. Additionally, the staff from eCARE are available to help when our school nurse is out of the building. PACT provides this service to all students free of charge to keep students healthy and learning.

The Avel eCare nurse's number is 605-606-0550.
